Summary of Chinese PV industry: production plans for Trina, JA Solar, ZNshine

Trina Solar said this week that it plans to increase mobile production through 10 GW at its plant in Jiangsu Province, while JA Solar has revealed its goal of increasing platelet production across 20 GW. Meanwhile, ZNshine Solar points to 10 GW of new photovoltaic module capacity.

Trina Solar announced on Wednesday its goal of increasing its photovoltaic mobile production capacity through 10 GW at its Yancheng plant in Jiangsu Province. The Shanghai-listed manufacturer said it will use the new capacity to produce 210 mm platelet-compatible mobiles. It will put the plan into force in two phases. In the first phase, it will deploy 7.6 GW of new production lines, while in the current phase it will upgrade 2.4 GW of its existing capacity on site to accommodate wafers of 210 mm. It will invest CNY 3 billion ($431.6 million) and CNY 800 million. It targets a capacity of 26 GW of solar mobiles until the end of 2021, 70% of which will be faithful to 210 mm platelets.

JA Solar said Thursday that it had signed a framework contract with the municipal government of Qujing, Yunnan Province, to deploy 20 GW of platelet production capacity. The automaker plans to invest CNY 5.8 billion in the capacity plan.

ZNshine Solar said earlier this week that it was looking to build the output capacity of its photovoltaic module through 10 GW or more. It will build a new production facility in Suqian, Jiangsu Province, with a total investment of CNY 5.5 billion. The first phase of the expansion plan will end at the end of November, with a total capacity of four GW. The moment phase will end until the end of 2021, with 6 GW more. All lines will be compatible with 182 mm and 210 mm pads and will be supplied with various complex module technologies, adding laser cutting, rods, cutting and high-density encapsulation. The maximum output force of the module shall be 720 W for double glass modules, with sizes up to 2650 mm to 1 four 50 mm.
