Executive manufacturer Annie Sundberg said it was “a loopy moment” that when they completed the documentary, Maxwell was arrested for his alleged role in Epstein’s sex trafficking network.
“Clearly, the story is not over… there would possibly be a sequence,” Sundberg said.
The Bob Friedman EP added: “It’s amazing to all of us who were concerned that after the 2008 arrest, that Jeffrey Epstein – and at this point, Ghislaine, from what we heard – were not social thugs, that they would continue to remain established and established figures in global, monetary and political circles, and in the political elite they did. So I can’t believe that there might not be more to communicate, and clearly we feel very fortunate to have been able – from the point of view of time – to make Ghislaine’s story known, because it was such a vital component of this story.”
Surviving Jeffrey Epstein: The occasion of the two nights begins on August 9 at 8am / 7am. LifetimeTwo-Night starts on August 9 at 8:00 am /7:00 am. Following the effect of Surviving R. Kelly and Surviving R. Kelly Part II: The Reckoning, the network continues to make the voices of survivors heard with Surviving Jeffrey Epstein, according to Lifetime’s Stop Violence Against Women initiative to provide a platform and resources for women. The four-hour document investigates the New York financial billionaire who allegedly used his relationships with the wealthy and noted to protect his predatory habit with young girls. Revealing how Epstein created a pseudo-sexual Ponzi scheme to bring in underage girls, the document delves into the posthumous effects of justiceless survivors. #SurvivingJeffreyEpstein Subscribe to more life shows: https://mylt.tv/subscribe Discover exclusive content for life: Website – https://mylt.tv/myLifetime Facebook – https://mylt.tv/facebook Twitter – https://mylt.tv/facebook
Lifetime has partnered with Rise to launch a special public service announcement to broadcast the documentary to inspire other survivors to use their voices for RISE UP and to assist identify the bill for survivors’ rights in their states. Lifetime will also launch a PSA RAINN to provide assistance resources to those in need.”
In a virtual panel for the event, the executive producer Bob Friedman told reporters that they are telling the survivors’ stories in their own words.
“The story we told was quite in the words of the survivors, the survivors who bring this burden of abuse. The abuses we all dare to believe are hidden in plain sight,” Friedman said. “And we think we’re getting into some of the stories and the explanation of why, with the creation of the pyramid formula of sex trafficking, it was recent. We take a look at the recruitment that existed, the preparation of potential victims, and how Ghislaine Maxwell would have trained recruiters to create this pipeline of abuses that we are experiencing.
He added that this is not the conclusion of the story, saying, “All of us, that there will be long-term revelations, we expect the trial to begin in July next year, but we have already answered many questions that have not been addressed in the past.”
Director Ricki Stern added that it is so vital for filmmakers to point out to survivors that this is not their mundane news.
“It was vital that we communicate [with the survivors] and say, ‘It’s going to be another one from a press article. We need to spend time with you and have your story told in your own words. “There’s so much strength in these women’s stories, in their hitale, understanding where they come from and where they are today is so powerful,” Stern said. “And that’s all we looked for to make sure the series represented it. Life is, of course, the ideal position for this series, because it values and complements the voices of women. And so it was a long procedure… It was a long procedure to succeed in women. Because there was so much attention, so much quick news that was made, that we had to change the series, because it’s 4 hours counted in their voices.
