The movie Borderlands is lately in theaters and is getting good reviews. Here at GameSpot, our Borderlands movie review gave it a score of 2/10. Some have described it as a “regrettable failure” and “generic”.
Strauss Zelnick, head of Borderlands publisher Take-Two, said in an interview that other people “give the movie a chance. “
“A lot of other people worked really hard on it. The intellectual resources are phenomenal, the casting is incredible; I think the look is really cool,” he told IGN. “So let’s see what the public has to say. “
The movie Borderlands just hit theaters today, August 9, and the film’s CinemaScore — a score of what audiences think of it — is not yet available. The film has a score of 29 on GameSpot’s sister site, Metacritic, and a 7% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Also in the interview, Zelnick said that the box office functionality of the Borderlands movie didn’t have any financial impact on Take-Two in any way. The company that financed the film is Lionsgate, not Take-Two.
Zelnick has a history in the movie business, having served as president and CEO of 20th Century Fox from 1989 to 1993 until he left to join game developer Crystal Dynamics.
The film Borderlands stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Jack Black, Cate Blanchett, and Kevin Hart and is directed by Eli Roth.
