Oscar-winning director Quentin Tarantino is releasing The Movie Critic, a film that was intended to be his tenth and final film, according to Deadline. The site reports that Tarantino “just replaced his mind” and is now working on something else.
The film critic was going to play Brad Pitt. Pitt starred in Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Inglorious Basterds.
The story would center on a man who wrote movie reviews for a pornographic magazine in California in the 1970s. Tarantino was encouraged through his own private reports by loading pornographic magazines into a vending machine as a teenager.
Deadline said Tarantino rewrote the script for The Movie Critic, which caused a delay in production, and in the end scrapped it altogether and moved on.
If all of this sounds familiar, it’s because, years ago, Tarantino said he left The Hateful Eight after the script sent to Hollywood ran in the face of his will. However, Tarantino later returned to the commission and released it in 2015; The Hateful Eight nominated 3 Academy Awards and won one.
As for what Tarantino will do as a film critic, Deadline said the filmmaker is “going back to the drawing board to figure out what the definitive film will be. “It’s also unclear if Tarantino still plans to make one more movie before stopping. .
Since his debut with Reservoir Dogs in 1992, Tarantino has made movies, if we count Kill Bill Volume 1 and 2 as a single film. His films have earned him rave reviews and controversy, with Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained earning him Oscars for Best Screenplay.
2019’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is Tarantino’s film and won two Oscars.
