In perhaps yet another sign of the growing reach of Apple TV+ content, the sci-fi series Silo has ranked on the Nielsen U.S. streaming originals chart for the first time ever. The show ranked 9th with 417 million minutes viewed, for the week of December 30 through January 5.
This is one in a handful of appearances of an Apple TV + name in this graph. As a general rule, Apple emissions are popular enough to look like the first transmission list, anyway, Nielsen figures.
Apple’s emissions don’t look very much in the Nielsen. Past titles to provide Come with Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, and Hyjack.
In the past, Apple has disputed the accuracy of Nielsen’s reporting suggesting it does not include all viewing demographics of streaming and does not reflect the worldwide distribution of the Apple TV+ service.
Unsurprisingly, the chart is governed by titles from Netflix, which has 90 million U. S. subscribers.
For the week ending January 5, the chart as follows:
As of January 5, Silo is in the middle of his second season with 8 of the 10 episodes released. We will have to wait and see if Silo goes up in the graph when Nielsen report on the era that covers the end of the second season.
Perhaps a vital factor, the dates of January 4 to 5 were when Apple made its loose weekend promotion for the Apple TV service, which meant that anyone could log in and see Apple’s originals without obligation.
However, its appearance in the table is some other indicator that Apple is slowly expanding the success and commitment of its programming.
Apple has previously said that Silo is one of its most popular drama series. The show is renewed for a third and fourth season, which will conclude the story as laid out in the Hugh Howey book series on which it is based.
