As usual, most of the new videos on the streaming service will premiere early this month. Thus, July 1 marks the debut of director Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy and director Robert Zemeckis’ Back to the Future trilogy, either of which has been well-received by critics and audiences alike.
By contrast, there are two more new videos on Netflix in July that complete a notorious trilogy of films that flopped due to critical reception of the first film in the series.
Not included in this review are 4 Netflix original movies that will debut on the streaming service in July, adding the long-awaited return of screen legend Eddie Murphy to the Beverly Hills Cop series with Beverly Cop Hills: Axel F. Here are the five highest-rated videos and five lowest-rated videos coming to Netflix in July, based on critic ratings on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Ties in “fresh” or “rotten” RT ratings are damaged through RT viewership scores.
Directed by David O. Russell, American Hustle follows two con artists, Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale) and Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams), who are forced to participate in an undercover operation after being arrested by FBI agent Richie DiMasso (Bradley Cooper).
