Dota 2’s biggest patch in a year arrived this week and once back it completely replaced the game, with the hero receiving at least two big additions to his team. Unsurprisingly, this turned the Dota 2 meta upside down, with forgotten heroes fitting into some of the most popular overnight.
It took a few days for players to figure out exactly what this is all about, but now the knowledge is starting to show the most productive heroes in Dota 2 after patch 7. 36. There are probably more to discover, and probably some more popular meme-style versions. It may not last, but for now, these are the best Dota 2 heroes to play in patch 7. 36.
In my first attack halfway through the new patch, I faced off against a Templar Assassin and it wasn’t fun. The hero has gotten huge buffs at most everywhere, to the point that it temporarily opposes him while dealing huge damage. . Psychic Blades is now an innate ability and can slow with an aspect, but the most significant adjustments are refraction, which now gives you multiple shields against damage instead of blocking one instance of damage. This means that many classic damage-over-time counters are much less effective and TAs can do much more damage.
Templar Assassin’s win rate has increased by more than 8% since the patch, representing the largest increase among all heroes. Until Refraction weakens and becomes less tank opposed to all damage taken, TA will be a very smart pick for all players in between.
Juggernaut has become the most productive player in 7. 36 and that is basically due to the damage he can cause. His innate ability gives him 10% more damage against targets in front of him, making him very difficult to stand and fight, and his new Blade Fury allows his Blade Fury to deal the same damage as his Blade Dance, which can increase significantly. The damage caused by rotation.
With only minor nerfs in his damage early in the game, Jugg went from being a hero who didn’t hit hard until they gave parts to a hero that could deal serious damage early on, and when he selects the pieces, his pain explodes while still having the survivability that Jugg has had.
Legion Commander has two of the most powerful aspects in the entire game, but one of them makes her almost murderous in safe situations. With the Plate of Stonehall skin, the Legion gains a damage barrier equal to the damage it deals to heroes with crushing ratings, which in any game is incredibly strong, but in an opposing attack on a ghost or summon hero, it can build a huge barrier just before I can face it. She goes into mourning.
The other side offers anyone who injures the loser of a duel a damage bonus, but they are not as smart as the other and are therefore rarely chosen. But that’s not a challenge when the former is so strong. In fact, Legion is an invincible tank when played well, and it’s probably due to a nerf.
Another melee core has risen in the Dota 2 win rate chart since patch 7. 36, with Wraith King making big profits with his new side. While one side helps keep his skeleton summon in an unchanged format, if you choose the other, he reputes it with a new ability called Spectral Bucket that casts a curse on any enemy attacked through Wraith King. The curse deals natural base damage as well as 70% of the original attack damage after a three-second delay, which is almost equivalent to dropping an Echo Saber and greatly increases his pain.
He also received an upgrade with his innate ability, with the old aghs effect causing him to become a wraith for a short time before dying, now only a popular component of his team. Although to give the same effect to the rest of the team he still wishes Aghs. These two great advantages made Wraith King the most sensible hero in Dota 2.
The other heroes on this list are the ones with the highest win rates in the new patch and are clearly very strong. Abaddon is not in the same boat, his win rate has changed slightly and, although he is still strong, he is not one of the most productive heroes. However, after playing two games as Abaddon outside of the plane, I’m convinced that he is more powerful than ever (at least in my low-level pubs).
There’s nothing revolutionary about my Abaddon build, however, with one of his new sides, you can create a build where you reflect so much pain that soft carries simply can’t hit you. The Mephitic Shroud side transforms your Aphotic Shield into a bigger damage block. that reflects 80% of the damage it absorbs to enemies around you but removes the explosion damage. Combine this with a first Blademail item and you can simply run towards enemies with your bubble, hit Blademail when it disappears, and then reapply the shield when Baldemail ends. From there, it’s just a matter of becoming as tanky as possible to soak up more damage, and ultimately players like Drow and Sniper simply can’t hit you without doing too much damage to themselves. I’ve probably ruled two games with this version, and I’m surprised that there are more people who haven’t discovered it yet.
