Here, Fatherly talks to Kian, King and Leslie about the tribute, what Black Panther meant to all of them and the incredibly positive joy of publicly mourning a wonderful hero.
The memorial touched many other people on social media.How did the concept come about?
King: It was Kian’s concept to do the memorial. Once the world heard about Chadwick Boseman’s death on Friday, Leslie and I were going to say anything to Kian on Saturday morning.
Kian’s older brother has a mobile phone, and Kian is searching his mobile phone late on Friday, and when he started receiving messages and seeing messages in Chadwick, he went to ask his mother if that was true.That’s when he likes it, Oh, Yes, it’s true. He had just found out in a different way than we wanted to tell him.
I guess I was pretty upset.
Yes, Kian quite distressed. She cried and kept wondering why, why her hero, why someone she admired had died so young.
We had spoken to Kian and all our other children, essentially about how death is a component of human beings and human life.The way Chadwick Boseman died, suffering from cancer, is difficult for a seven-year-old to perceive this.Mom had asked him, “Well, now that you know and you’re sad, is there anything you’d like to do or is there anything you can do to make you feel better?”
Kian had said he sought to pay homage to Black Panther, similar to the one Iron Man won in the last Avengers film, when he passed away, with all the other heroes who provided him.Array That’s how it happened.
Well, it’s a glorious tribute.
That was Kian’s idea.
Every time he plays with his toys he identifies as an avenger.Thus he ended up placing his back and crossing his arms with the symbol “Wakanda Forever”.That’s how it ended up happening.
I’m a fan of all the movies, and I didn’t even think about the fact that it reflected Iron Man’s funeral in Endgame.
King: In many ways. If you notice it in the photo, his mom helped him get the device he needed, and he placed black Panther’s articulated figure in a box, in front of the box is an Iron Man glove on the floor, which also symbolizes Kian saying Goodbye to Iron Man.For all things, I knew exactly what I wanted to do to honor Chadwick Boseman and Black Panther.
For a seven-year-old, having that vision of what I was looking for is amazing.
King: That’s right. It’s something.
Leslie: Your mind goes crazy when you’re a kid.Before I was a recruiter for the company, I painted for now, I was a day care manager for five years.I’ve noticed it firsthand, when it comes to how young people relate to safe things, good, bad or indifferent.I can see with my own eyes how they relate to those things and look at my son.I taught [young people] to be themselves and let the eyes of their minds go mad, because they are young.
What was it like when the monument started exploding and attracted a lot of attention?
Leslie: We didn’t know!
King: I’m honest, I’ve never posted anything on Twitter, I’ve been on Twitter since January.I usually use Facebook if I need to talk on social media, so aside from going to Twitter to comment on other people’s things, this is the first thing I post on my Twitter account.I just published it to say: Hey, I know the whole world is in mourning for the loss of Chadwick so early and so suddenly, and it’s a great thing my son had done.That’s why I published it. My little boy and the Avengers pay homage to him.
In a matter of hours, my phone was still overflowing with tastes and tastes, when I say I don’t like Twitter very much, I didn’t know that things can evolve the same way, because it never does on Facebook.and she told me that someone had called her and said that the message she had posted there had gone viral and was appearing in the media, so I went ahead and took a look at it and thought, oh my God.That’s right, hey, we’re famous.
What’s this about?
King: What surprised us was that Kian did this in homage to someone he considered his hero and then, when it was published, allowed others to enroll in my son to honor Chadwick Boseman and Black Panther, and cry.with him That’s the surprise.
Leslie: It’s a humiliating delight for us. We appreciate it. We have spoken to countless networks and media resources at this point, however, the most common are comments.The encouragement comments, other mourners, and Kian knows it …I mean, they gave it to us, he knows he’s not alone in this case.
The internet can be such a place, so having this incredibly positive reaction to this lovely thing.
King: That’s right. So that’s what struck me.Because when you have a child who says he needs to honor his hero, as a father, he sees other people who say chadwick Boseman is not only his hero, but they also appreciate what my son did to honor him, simply …Kian won a prize, charming cry of messages for anything that made it so authentic.
Chadwick Boseman wasn’t Black Panther, I played all those iconic figures in history: James Brown. Jackie Robinson.
King: Thurgood Marshall.
I had a short career, but he stays true to those characters and roles.In that sense, for you as a family, and for you, Kian, what do Wakanda and the world of Black Panther mean to all of you?
Kian: It means circle of family and friends.
Leslie: I feel like Kian was smart in identifying with [the world].We come from a strong family. For him, seeing this, firsthand, on the big screen, was huge.See a predominantly African-American cast and see how, even for our daughter, see a woman in general with an army of women alone.
Completely.
Leslie: It was just exhilarating. And it’s a wonderful example to show our children and, you know, we love him very much.
Kian: And Black Panther also that we can be wonderful tough heroes.
King: From what Leslie said about the black cast, I think as a father, when you hear your son say when someone is his hero, or he respects him, the first thing you have to make sure is that it’s nothing you Kian actually knew Chadwick Boseman as the Black Panther, but knowing, as an adult, all the other old, strong black figures he had portrayed in the videos , when my son calls him a hero, that’s a we think Chadwick Boseman was a wonderful human being.
Leslie: The next absolutely as an actor, he chose the roles he chose to play for himself on purpose, there are so many roles he passed because he didn’t need to be a stereotype or a demographic.
Kian: And he looks like me too.
King: That’s great, man.
Overall, it turns out it’s been a pretty positive joy for your family, crying with the world.You think he’s been smart for all of you?
King: I think so. When I ask Kian, what things he would like other people to be informed of his tribute, or what he would like other people to do in general Black Panther or Chadwick Boseguy, Kian simply says that he would like the world to know that Chadwick was a great boy and that Black Panther was a hero to young blacks like him.
As a father, you think he raises awareness of the horrific form of cancer that claimed Chadwick’s life.If you can raise awareness of something like that, and the general symbol of allowing other people to cry with my child, then it will be a good idea.fortune simply knowing that there were other people who love Chadwick Boseman, as my son did, and other people who enjoyed Black Panther, as my son did.
