Textron Aviation has deployed the first production of the Cessna SkyCourier twin-engine application turboprop, as it plans to deliver it to launch to the fedEx Express visitor later this year.

To date, the fleet of 3 SkyCourier verification aircraft has accumulated more than 2100 flight hours since the opening of the type in May 2020.

Certification is expected in the early part of this year, says Textron Aviation.

FedEx has ordered 50 sets of the SkyCourier shipping variant, with 50 sets covered through options. The aircraft accommodates 3 LD3 boxes and can carry 2720 kg (6000 lb) of payload.

A symbol published through Textron Aviation shows five other SkyCouriers at other stages of the final assembly.

Manufactured at Textron Aviation’s site in Wichita, Kansas, the white sheet design incorporates various production and assembly processes to simplify its construction.

“Today is a rewarding day for our workers who have worked on the design and structure of what will become a mythical aircraft for our company,” said Ron Draper, general manager of Textron Aviation.

“The SkyCourier offers an impressive combination of cabin flexibility, payload capacity, functionality and low operating prices for the dual-engine application segment. “

In addition to the shipping version, the SkyCourier will be available in a 19-seat passenger configuration. Both variants are powered by Pratt engines.
