The building was originally built as Roath Public Hall and opened in the 1880s, then became a public library before a brief lifestyle under the electric theatre, with silent films appearing, between 1912 and 1915.

It housed the BBC studios for 30 years between 1959 and 1989 before being occupied through the Yamaha School of Music in the 1990s and has remained vacant for over 20 years since the music closed in 2000.

The indifferent assets of the Victorian era are spread over two floors and it has a very giant attic, while there is personal parking and more land on the sides and back of the building, which raises the overall domain to about 700 square meters.

The assets are also not an indexed structure and are not located in a designated conservation area, and the existing structure would possibly be demolished to allow for the structure of specially built apartments.
