Silent Hill 2’s mythical antagonist, Pyramid Head, is nevertheless back on the big screen, and audiences got their first glimpse of the geometric monstrosity this week at the film’s screening at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024.
Directed by Christophe Gans (who also directed the first Silent Hill film in 2006), Return To Silent Hill is the third film in the Silent Hill franchise and is also considered a reboot of sorts. The first two films were fostered through Silent Hill. games and included some of the most well-known characters from the series. However, neither 2006’s Silent Hill nor 2012’s Silent Hill: Revelation were true adaptations of a Silent Hill express game, but rather fusions of them. Return To Silent Hill, on the other hand, aims to be a faithful adaptation of Konami’s 2001 horror masterpiece, Silent Hill 2.

Return To Silent Hill doesn’t have an official release date yet, but the film is expected to be released sometime in 2024. Similarly, a remake of the original Silent Hill 2 game is being developed lately via Bloober Team and is also expected to be released at a later date. This year, which means Pyramid Head enthusiasts have a lot to look forward to.
