Lifetime’s “Lies and Ex Wives: Secrets on Maple Street” is a mysterious mystery told by Katie, a young woman who is romantically concerned with her divorced neighbor. Despite the inevitable rumors from local residents, Katie prepares for scrutiny and is quick to commit. As she becomes familiar with her new community, she uncovers a web of lies, betrayals and secrets, partly suspecting the involvement of her new boyfriend.
The plot gets complicated when Katie begins to receive threats from a mysterious stalker. The scenario gets even worse when her fiancé’s ex-spouse is discovered dead. Katie temporarily realizes that she faces a more fatal danger than gossip and stalking and takes steps to get to the back of this disturbing scenario. Directed by Paula Elle, this film is the first installment of the “Maple Street” trilogy, which exposes the discoveries of a saga rooted in mystery, lust and deception. In addition to the characters’ movements and tense plot, “Lies and Ex-Wives: Secrets on Maple Street” relies heavily on its visuals, especially the evocative locations.
“Lies and Ex Wives: Secrets on Maple Street” is set on iconic Maple Street in Kelowna, a city in British Columbia, and takes place in and around real-life locations. Filming took place consecutively in April and May. 2024 with the next installments of the trilogy, “A Family Nightmare: Secrets on Maple Street” and “Murder for Mortgage: Secrets on Maple Street”, Jason Habicht acted as director of photography, capturing the double façade of romance and conspiracy.
“Lies and Ex-Wives: Secrets on Maple Street” filmed in Kelowna, one of the most amazing places in the province of British Columbia. The city is located in the Okanagan Valley, surrounded by rolling landscapes. Maple Street, where many of the exterior shots were captured, is located off the east shore of Okanagan Lake, one of the city’s most prestigious landmarks. There’s no shortage of Victorian-era cottages in this community with modern, comfortable suburban ideals popular at the time.
The streets, filmed for the film, are situated on spacious, empty and sparsely developed lots. They add richness to the story’s cinematic appeal and resonate strongly with Katie’s decision to turn a blind eye when neighbors harass her. The crew visited local studios to shoot the interior shots. Production designer Olivia Seneshen and production designer Kailee Clayton skillfully met this requirement, modifying the interior designs to authentically reflect any differences between genuine homes and designs at a glance.
Ali Liebert, actress, director and model, plays the lead role of Katie in “Lies and Ex Wives: Secrets on Maple Street. “Like her character, Liebert is an outsider who moved to British Columbia to pursue her ambitions. She rose to fame early on as a receptionist on the mystery series “Bates Motel” before appearing in the television videos “The Christmas Temp” and “A Brush with Christmas. “
Actresses Shay Galor and Juliette Hawk take on the roles of Hazel and Alexis Lambert, respectively. Galor has several television movie credits, including “Mommy’s Stolen Memories,” “A Mother’s Fury” and “The Honeymoon Pact. ” Hawk also appears in the Hallmark movies “Mystery on Mistletoe Lane,” “A Winning Team,” as well as Lifetime’s “Living with My Mother’s Killer,” among others. Shiraine Haas plays Dina Perkins. We would possibly recognize her from the “Fifty Shades of Grey” trilogy, where she plays Gwen in the last two parts.
