The next-generation Ubisoft titles to be released on this holiday will charge the same amount as existing generation titles, even though at least one competitor lowered their prices.
During Ubisoft’s first quarter earnings call today, CEO Yves Guillemot responded to an over-the-top cost of next-generation games by saying that for at least its 3 versions scheduled before Christmas 2020, the next-generation versions of those titles would not be more expensive.
“For Christmas games, we plan to offer the same value as the previous generation of consoles,” he said. “That’s what we’re focusing on right now.”
However, this comment, as well as a momentary reaction later in the call confirming the same information, left the door open to value increases at a later date.
He came here in reaction to Take-Two Interactive’s announcement that it would be worth $69.99 for NBA 2K21 on PS5 and Xbox Series X later this year, $10 more than the PS4 and Xbox One versions.
