The star of Captain America: Brave New World does not receive criticism from the MCU: “It helps keep cinema alive”

Tim Blake Nelson doesn’t think the MCU is having a negative effect on cinema. The actor, who plays the leader in the Marvel films, is expected to reprise his villainous role in the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World.

“Marvel has become an unprecedented phenomenon in the history of cinema,” Nelson told TheWrap at San Diego Comic-Con. “These dozens of videos with characters going in and out of each other, joining together, splitting up, fighting each other in one universe – that’s never happened in videos before. When other people attack those videos saying, ‘Well, this doesn’t happen. ‘ “It’s genuine cinema” or “This is the death of cinema”, I think it helps keep cinema alive, and I literally mean that. ”

The debate over whether Marvel videos are bad for cinema has raged on for years, with everyone from Martin Scorsese to Quentin Tarantino in attendance. The storyline has also expanded to encompass superhero fatigue as well, and whether that may be the root of Marvel’s diminishing returns. in the box (until the big opening weekend of Deadpool and Wolverine, anyway).

“I think it’s fatigue in general. The superhero fatigue factor existed long before the paintings we were doing,” Anthony Russo told GamesRadar earlier this year. “So it’s kind of a perennial complaint, like we talked about in our early days with superhero paintings. People complained about westerns in the same way, but they lasted for decades and decades and decades. They have continuously reinvented themselves and taken to new heights over time.

Joe and Anthony Russo return to direct Avengers 5, now titled Avengers: Doomsday, and Avengers: Secret Wars, and the news is showing at SDCC. Robert Downey Jr. will also return, but in a surprise reveal he will play Doctor Doom.
