Regal Cinemas has announced that five of director Christopher Nolan’s films will return to theaters this year, and as a gift, tickets cost $5.
The five films returning to theaters are some of Nolan’s most beloved films in his film career. As reported by Collider, the first is Nolan’s second Batman movie, The Dark Knight, starring Christian Bale as Batman and Heath Ledger as the Joker.
Ledger won an Oscar posthumously for the film, which many consider the most productive of the three Batman films directed by Nolan. It recently emerged that Nolan wasn’t initially enthusiastic about making a Batman Begins sequel until his brother Jonathan, who wrote one of the film’s most prominent lines, convinced him to do so.
Nolan’s dream film, Inception, returns to theaters. The sci-fi film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Elliot Page, and many continue to debate the film’s mysterious and ambiguous ending.
The mental mystery Insomnia, a remake of an earlier Norwegian film starring Stellan Skarsgard, is the Nolan film returning to theaters. The film is unique because it is the only one in Nolan’s career that he did not write or co-write. Al Pacino, Robin Williams and Hilary Swank, the film tells the story of a Los Angeles police detective sent to Alaska to solve a crime before things go completely off the rails. Oh, and because of the time of year, the sun never sets.
Nolan’s World War II film Dunkirk, starring Barry Keoghan, Kenneth Branagh, Tom Glynn-Carney and Harry Styles, also returns to theaters. It is considered to be one of Nolan’s most critically acclaimed films, and Nolan himself was nominated for his first Academy Award. Award for this film.
Finally, Nolan’s sprawling sci-fi film, Interstellar, returns to theaters as part of this campaign. The film stars Matthew McConaughey as an astronaut who embarks on a dangerous project in which time goes back much faster on Earth, leading to a number of problems. The film delves into theoretical astrophysics and sometimes makes complex clinical topics easy to understand. Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway also star in the film.
All five films return to Regal theaters this month as part of the Regal Forever Favorites campaign. As mentioned, tickets for those videos are $5.
Nolan’s last film, Oppenheimer, was a huge success at the box office and at the Oscars, where it won seven Oscars. Nolan’s brother, Jonathan, is the executive producer of Prime Video’s Fallout TV series, which premieres today, April 10.
