Update: Well, it doesn’t matter, it doesn’t matter. The mystery package involved the revelation, involving a 1950s slide projector and mysterious slides. I guess my hopes have outweighed my explanation of why and now I have to go through a hat. Sigh.
Original story:
We know That Call Of Duty 2020 will almost be Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War for a while.
Leaks and rumors have plagued the game for months, adding reports that Treyarch had to intervene so that the whole game would evolve through Sledgehammer and Raven Software.
The last leak came from Doritos, the logo of junk food. A Doritos chip ad indexed the Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War awards. The announcement indicates that the game will launch at the end of October, or at least in October.
We know all this and more on August 10th.
Now, I’m not 100 percent sure of that, but it’s incredibly likely to be here when the Call Of Duty 2020 revelation will take place. I guess it’s also the day we’ll have the first preview of the game, as well as an announcement of the release date and a few words about its release on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Of course, we may not locate all this data on the 10th, but we deserve at least get the revelation and progress.
So where does this arbitrary date of revelation come from? Well, Activision just sent a mysterious wooden box to The other smart people at CharlieIntel, a blog that focuses on everything related to Call Of Duty.
The box is locked and says “do not open until August 10 at 12:00 p.m. ET”. A suit will be sent to CharlieIntel that day; in theory, they can open the money register sooner. But why do this when you can unpack the box in front of thousands of enthusiastic fans? Just be sure to check at 12 pm ET / 9 am PT on the 10th (next Monday) for more information.
This is consistent with Activision sending small advances to influential people for the fifth season of Modern Warfare/Warzone. But I very much doubt that this has anything to do with the titles released lately (although Warzone will still live in each and every subsequent edition of Call of Duty).
No, this turns out to me to be a wonderful ad and the only thing CharlieIntel can get in this regard is Call Of Duty: 2020 one way or another. If not, I’ll eat my hat.
I’ve combined emotions about a new Call of Duty right now. On the one hand, I’m excited about a Black Ops game that takes a stand in the past, maybe in Vietnam, and not through a futuristic sci-fi double jump shooter. On the other hand, I think Infinity Ward has done a wonderful task with Modern Warfare and Warzone. I’m a little worried that the new game will continue with this game and that it’s rarely that good. I mean, will Gunfight have? Probably not. Will we continue to get Modern Warfare in 2021? New seasons and maps? Integration with Warzone? I’m skeptical and that’s a shame. This is the challenge of managing a franchise like this with annual versions that are also a ‘games as a service’ name.
Anyway, tuned in. August 10, nine a.m. PT / 12 p.m. Et. Something big is on the way.
