Threat actors evolved the pandemic

Every quarter, McAfee assesses the state of the cyber risk landscape based on extensive research, investigative research, and knowledge of risks collected through its Global Threat Intelligence cloud of more than one billion sensors in risk vectors worldwide, the company said.

McAfee researchers found that COVID-19 campaigns use subjects, tests, treatments, remedies, and remote pandemic-related charts to trick targets into clicking on a malicious link, downloading a record, or displaying a PDF.

To track those campaigns, McAfee Advanced Programs Group (APG) has launched a COVID-19 risk panel, including key pandemic risks, vertical and target countries, and the maximum risk types and volumes used over time. The board is updated daily at 4:00 p.m. Et. “Cybersecurity cannot be solved through simple approaches. Each organization is unique and has express intelligence needs and objectives,” Patrick Flynn, director of McAfee APG, said in a statement. “The McAfee COVID-19 Risk Dashboard uses knowledge to create true analyzed intelligence that enables users to perceive the global risk environment, informing them of potential risks before they are used.

During the first quarter of 2020, McAfee noted that malicious actors attacked spaces where availability and integrity were critical, adding manufacturing companies, laws, and structures.
