Tim McGraw will give his first concert as part of the film Field of Dreams

The summer concert will take place at the iconic filming location in Dyersville, Iowa

This summer, Tim McGraw will perform in the first concert at the iconic Cornfield baseball diamond where Kevin Costner’s 1989 film Field of Dreams was filmed. Experience’s one-of-a-kind live showcase will take place on August 30. in Dyersville, Iowa.

As a refresher (or if you’ve never noticed the movie), Field of Dreams centers on Costner’s Ray Kinsella who turns his farm into a baseball box after being coerced by a mysterious voice. The studio built a genuine diamond in a genuine corn box for the film, and the venue has since hosted baseball events and games over the years, even hosting seasonal games with The Ghost Players and two special games of the MLB.

However, McGraw’s performance, created in partnership between StubHub and U.S. Concert Agency, will be the first major concert at the location. And there’s a reason the country superstar is the perfect person for this show: His father was the late, great Tug McGraw, the Phillies relief pitcher who threw out the final batter in the team’s 1980 World Series win. He also coined the phrase “Ya gotta believe” during his time with the Mets, which is just about as memorable a line as, “If you build it, he will come.”

What’s more, the August 30th show date happens to be Tug McGraw’s birthday, meaning this is sure to be as emotional a performance as the final scenes of Field of Dreams itself.

Advance tickets will be available starting January 20 for those who create a StubHub account and “favorite” Tim McGraw’s page (click on the center icon) by January 19. The general pre-sale will take place on January 21, as normal. Sales expected for January 24 exclusively through StubHub.

Early bird GA tickets will be priced at $69.99, jumping to $99.99 during the general on-sale. VIP packages, priced at $299.99, which won’t be part of the pre-sales, include dedicated viewing areas, entries, and restrooms, as well as a private bar and access to the actual Field of Dreams field. The $499.99 Home Run VIP packages have all that plus a viewing deck and lounge area, complimentary small bits and refreshments, and free event merch.
