Those of us who love the Harry Potter books, or who have watched all the Harry Potter movies in order over and over again, have lamented the lack of owl appearances or parchment letter deliveries on our birthdays. 11th birthday inviting us to attend Hogwarts. But let’s face it, being a witch or wizard in the Harry Potter universe is all about Quidditch and Chocolate Frogs. Ask Harry Potter! From the beginning of his life he faced very demanding situations and he survived them all. Well… mostly. So let’s move on to some of the most demanding situations that the young wizard had to overcome, and all before reaching adulthood, no less. . .
Big spoilers about the upcoming Harry Potter books and movies!
Harry had about a year of “normal” life before his parents were brutally murdered through Voldemort. The other two people who enjoyed it to the fullest were snatched away from him too soon. But that love left an impression on Harry, protecting him from Voldemort. and giving it the strength it needed when the goal approached.
Moments after killing either of his parents, Harry is nearly killed in his crib. Scarred by the spell of death and no doubt terrified, Harry was buried in the rubble of his relatives’ home. But he also survived that, and he wouldn’t be the same. Last time he faced Voldemort and survived.
Harry grew up feeling unloved and unwanted by his uncles, and bullied by his cousin Dudley. As a bonus, he lived for ten years on his cousin’s remains and had a closet as a bedroom. Somehow, he didn’t let this abuse or forget about turning him into a bad person. In fact, Harry’s compassion is one of his most admirable traits.
Ok, in all honesty, that puts Harry in the same spot as any Muggle neb who first arrives at Hogwarts in the wizarding scene. But being “the boy who survived,” expectations about Harry’s talents were much higher. So there’s a clever tension about him to get it right from the start. And yet, he rose to the occasion time and time again, thanks in large part to Hermione’s diligence and support.
Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle were the last jerks at school. As if being among the most level-headed on Voldemort’s list didn’t make Harry’s life complicated enough, having to face those three enemies on a regular basis during his teenage years didn’t make life any easier. Harry wasn’t always taller than Malfoy. No we were sectumsempra: it wasn’t entirely his fault, but it was still bad. But most of the time, Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle were the bad guys in a given situation.
The Halloween Mountain Troll is one of the many difficult situations to overcome at Hogwarts, but this one is notable not only because Harry, Ron, and Hermione faced him with limited magical abilities, but also because his defeat is an element that binds them together in their friendship.
Who came up with the idea of setting up a garden next to a forest full of dark and harmful creatures?Anyway, Harry and his friends faced Acromantula, the inhospitable centaurs, and Hagrid’s half-brother, Grawp, and lived to tell the tale. Hardly.
Well, we know that Snape had his reasons for hating Harry, but that didn’t make it any less difficult for Harry to attend Hogwarts and under the watchful eye of his master.
By the age of twelve, Harry faced more than his percentage of fights, thanks in large part to a diary containing a horcrux, a possessed Ginny Weasley, and a petrifying basilisk. Harry’s sophomore year had no shortage of challenges. And he had to face Voldemort, in Tom Riddle form, once again.
We left Snape and Umbridge out of this specific element, since neither of them put Harry in mortal danger. . . unless you count Umbridge beating the dementors on Harry, but for now let’s focus on Quirrell and Barty Crouch Jr. , who acted. . at the Dark Lord’s call while he was a professor at Hogwarts. For Quirrell, it’s about using what’s left of Voldemort on his head while he puts Harry in danger, both in the Quidditch box and then back at the end of the Philosopher’s Stone. And for Crouch, it’s all about dressing up as Mad-Eye Moody and forcing Harry to participate in the Triwizard Tourcallnt. And then putting Harry in danger at the end of Goblet of Fire. They both managed to escape everyone’s attention, and school is even more complicated for Harry because of this.
Honestly, this woman. As if the Dursleys weren’t bad enough, Vernon’s sister turned out to be even worse, drawing a lot of criticism and treating Harry like trash. I’d say she’s the worst, but let’s face it, “the worst” is relative when we’re talking about things that Harry Potter had to deal with.
There are few things worse in this life than the feeling of utter hopelessness. After all, it’s hope that pushes us through trials. Dementors remove all hope, leaving the user with their worst memories and fears. Harry has many bad memories and many reasons to be afraid. The fact that he can summon a patronus in the presence of one or more of those things is a sign of the strength of his character and courage.
Lupine is possibly a true friend and a best friend when he is at his best, but at his worst, during the full moon, he is a monster. Harry learned this the hard way in the third book and, fortunately, he and his friends did. controlled until unharmed.
I’m not even talking about when Harry loses Sirius. That comes later. In Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry discovers that he has a family member who loves him and wants to give him a home. . . and then Sirius will have to go into hiding. This made the ending of Prisoner of Azkaban bittersweet, as Harry attempted to help Sirius escape, but in the process had to let a friend through.
For many, the Triwizard Cup was a coveted prize and the tournament, the best opportunity to show off one’s skills and magical mastery. For Harry, it was one more challenge to overcome. Being well below the age requirement and less prepared for challenges, Harry spent his fourth year facing dragons, the risks of the lake, and a maze full of challenges, which would eventually lead him to the worst danger.
As if being the Boy Who Lived wasn’t enough, Harry had to deal with the public’s attention and, worse, the attention of gossip blogger Rita Skeeter, who never had the chance to sensationalize her private life.
Perhaps one of the most brutal moments of Harry’s formative years was seeing Cedric Diggory, a friendly and promising young wizard, killed in the prime of his life just for being in the position at the time. Afterwards, the incident haunted Harry, which was understandable, as he had noticed it happening but could do nothing to prevent it.
Shortly after witnessing Cedric’s death, Harry was subjected to Voldemort’s dark ritual of restoring his own body, surrounded by masked Death Eaters. A terrifying moment to say the least, Harry controlled it, confronting Voldemort and also managing to escape.
As if the attention Harry had to receive in the wake of Cedric Diggory’s death wasn’t enough of a challenge, he was also under intense scrutiny from the Ministry of Magic, especially after the Triwizard Tournament. This included being subjected to a disciplinary hearing after he and his cousin were attacked by dementors, but also the magical government’s refusal to face the facts. In the end, the Ministry of Magic proved to be more of an obstacle in the fight against Voldemort than anything else.
Dolores Umbridge is an excellent example of the gray domain of evil. There are clever wizards and witches like Dumbledore and McGonagall, and there are evil Death Eaters like Lucius Malfoy and Bellatrix Lestrange. And then there are other people in the middle, who in turn are in the smart aspect of smart and evil, but who do horrible things in the process, like torturing a child by forcing him to engrave “I’ll Have To Not Lie” in his hand over and over again. Umbridge was a lesson in how some other people in authority abuse him, even if they think the end justifies the means.
It’s hard enough having to deal with one near-death experience after another, but being called a liar only makes it worse. People didn’t want to know that Voldemort was back, and part of his denial meant believing that Harry had to be lying. Therefore, Harry spent a large portion of his fifth year at Hogwarts as an outcast. He at least knew who his real friends were.
What can be worse than facing your worst enemy? To make this enemy enter your brain and saturate it with evil and pain. But Harry overcame Voldemort’s brief possession of his brain through a beautiful observation of the love he felt for the other people he cared about. In the end, it’s their most productive way. Weapon opposed to Voldemort at the end of Order of the Phoenix.
Learning about the fact that the prophecy added a layer of doom to Harry’s situation. He may no longer blame all of his struggles on a bad series of events. He will now have to bear the dark destiny of knowing that “one will have to die at the hands of the other, because neither can live while the other survives. ” It’s a grim truth to face and a life replacement that may have sent Harry straight into despair. And yet he stood up and faced his fate.
As difficult as it is to let Sirius through at the end of The Prisoner of Azkaban, nothing could have prepared Harry (or us) for Bellatrix Lestrange to finish him off through the veil at the end of Order of the Phoenix. Harry and Sirius never fully learned the father-son dating they deserved, and Sirius spent too many years locked away or in hiding to deserve such a quick exit from this life. Recovering from this is not an easy task for Harry, but he will probably be stronger, as painful as it is to see him go through this.
Few things were more disturbing in this series than Harry and Dumbledore’s vacation on this small island to retrieve the Horcrux locket. The reanimated corpses meant to protect the locket were terrifying, but worst of all was seeing Dumbledore, suffering from the Drink of Despair. Dumbledore’s agony was worse than almost being dragged into the lake through the Inferi.
After facing the Inferi, Harry had to endure watching Snape kill Dumbledore in front of his eyes. More than just a loss, the incident fueled the fire of Harry’s hatred for Snape and left him once again distraught – this time Dumbledore was gone. He is there to relieve you of the consequences with a few sensible words.
Hedwig’s death was further proof that nothing and no one was safe from danger in Harry’s world. The owl has not had it easy, as he suffered a similar point of imprisonment at the Dursleys’ house every time Harry was there during the summer. But it was a devastating loss to see her killed so temporarily during Harry’s last escape from his aunt and uncle’s house. Harry couldn’t even bury it, because he had to let go of the sidecar during his escape from the Death Eaters.
The search for horcruxes and data has proven to be one challenge after another. This included entering and exiting the Ministry of Magic. But few adventures were as terrifying as Harry and Hermione’s encounter with Bathilda Bagshot, whose body had been inhabited by a giant snake. Harry and Hermione almost didn’t make it, and Harry’s wand paid the price.
It had to happen. In fact, we’ve noticed symptoms of Ron’s occasional frustration at being in Harry’s shadow in previous books. Probably due to the effects of the Horcrux they carried, Ron was overcome by a lack of confidence and jealousy in the seventh book. , and in a moment of weakness, he parted ways with Harry and Hermione. He returned to them as soon as he could, but his departure left a noticeable void in the trio, affecting Harry and Hermione as they trudged forward in their search for the Horcruxes.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione faced many difficult situations in their friendship, but breaking into Gringotts might have been their most beautiful and dangerous adventure. Not only did they have to trick the goblins, but they also had to break into the danger-filled vault, locate the Horcrux, and escape with their lives, which they did. About a dragon. We can also argue that six years of self-improvement at Hogwarts prepared the trio for this incredibly complicated task. In the end, it proved that Harry, Ron and Hermione were an unstoppable trio.
There have been many painful deaths in this series, but Dobby’s exit was one of the most heartbreaking, as he died protecting Harry, literally putting himself between a knife and a wizard who cut him and helped give him his beloved freedom. Dobby’s death proved to be even harder to overcome, as it happened in the midst of Harry’s efforts to search for the remaining Horcruxes. Grief and anger might have clouded Harry’s judgment, but in the end he found the strength to move forward and keep his priorities in check.
Fred Weasley. Remus Lupin and Tonks. Lavender brown. Colin Crivey. Severus Snape. La Battle of Hogwarts took away from Harry many other intelligent people. I really had no way to prepare for those losses, or the effects they would have on the people I loved.
In the end, Harry resisted his own death, willing to settle for sacrifice if it meant destroying Voldemort. Giving his own life for someone intelligent proved that he was necessarily the opposite of Voldemort, who would have sacrificed countless lives for his own immortality. Harry’s near death was the final challenge, and he demonstrated his courage and his goodness in the face of evil.
The events of his youth did not break Harry Potter. One of the most demanding situations in life is not only overcoming difficulties, but also overcoming them. The epilogue and what we have learned about Harry since the end of Book 7 is a further demonstration of his character, as Harry continued to live a contented life, married, fathered, and running as an Auror for the Ministry. The demanding situations he faced did not break him. Thanks to his courage, his love and smart people, he got here. come out strong from those tests.
