TV series “Boss Of The Beach” about a New York magazine article in the works of Darren Aronofsky and Searchlight TV

EXCLUSIVE: In a competitive setting with 10 bidders, Searchlight Television, along with Darren Aronofsky and his Protozoa Pictures, won the television rights to David Gauvey Herbert’s article in New York Magazine’s ‘Boss of The Beach’ for the development of the series.

Research is underway to write the adaptation, which Herbert will produce as an executive producer.

Herbert’s June 23, 2020, article in Intelligencer of New York Magazine, chronicles the hopes, dreams and scandals of the bodies of New York rescuers over the more than 40 years. The article focuses on the tumultuous career of Peter Stein, who has led the New York Rescuer Corps for 4 decades.

Herbert writes about crime, subcultures and rarities in general for New York Magazine and Bloomberg Businessweek, among other publications. He has also received the Prize twice from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting. In the past he covered foreign policy as editor of the National Journal in Washington, DC.

In Searchlight TV, the assignment is monitored through Gina Kwon, director of TV development and production; and Danny Samit, vice president of TV development. For the company, the rights agreement with Jennifer Gonsky, head of business affairs.

Herbert replaced via UTA. Aronofsky is replaced via CAA.
