Screenings take place at all seven venues throughout the city, adding outdoor screenings in Priory Park and old silent films with live musical accompaniment in the Gothic Chapel of St. John. Its extensive programming has more than three hundred films, television series and virtual truth installations, adding an annual “surprise movie”, with recent titles such as The Menu (2022), C’mon C’mon (2021) and Lady Bird ( 2019). ). The LFF awards the prize to the most productive film at its festival (selected by a jury), the Sutherland Prize at the first feature film festival, the Grierson Prize for documentaries and the short film prize. The festival also offers a truly extensive industry program including co-production events, a work-in-progress exhibition and skills progression programmes. Last year, the festival partnered with Films Femmes Afrique in Senegal for the flagship “Women Creators of the Future” program, showcasing films made through and about African women from across Africa and the diaspora.
