Ulissi and Aru settle for the upcoming demanding situations of the UAE Team Emirates

Dubai: Two experienced UAE Team Emirates riders believe last week’s effects have greatly helped as the team looks ahead to the next challenges.

Italian drivers Diego Ulissi and Fabio Aru have been selected to lead the next demanding situations on behalf of the UAE Team Emirates and both are in a bad mood for the future.

Ulissi, 31, will lead a seven-year-old team as he faces the five-day Tour of Poland, the first World Tour-level race since he resumed the 2020 UCI calendar last week.

Taking a position from August five to 9th, the occasion will begin in Chorzow and end in the charming city of Krakow after covering 8nine1.3 km of difficult terrain in all five stages.

Ulissi will be supported by Rui Costa’s Portuguese trio and his brothers Ivo and Rui Oliveira, as American time trial specialist Brandon McNulty and sprinters Sebastian Molano and Jasper Philipsen.

The United Arab Emirates team resumed their crusade last week with an absolute-level victory with Fernando Gaviria taking level 3 at the Vuelta Burgos in the Basque region of Spain. A day later, teammate Davide Formolo finished on the podium at Strade Bianche.

Given those encouraging results, Ulissi was motivated to the upcoming challenge for the UAE Team Emirates striker. “After Fernando’s victory in Burgos and Formolo’s podium at Strade Bianche, we headed to Poland with confidence,” he said.

“Personally my condition is and there are some steps that do me well. With the strength of the team we bring in, I think we can do things there.

The team in Poland will be guided by administrators Simone Pedrazzini and Bruno Vicini.

Meanwhile, UAE Team Emirates will also compete in France with the Mont Ventoux Denivele Challenge (6 August) and the Tour de L’Ain (7-9 August). And the challenge leader in either race will be Italian national champion Aru 2017, as both occasions are mountain climbs.

“Back to the race is a wonderful feeling. A 10 more sensible in Burgos shows that the situations are pretty good, but I keep progressing at my most sensible level,” Aru said.

“In France, the purpose will be to continue to build form for great purposes like Lombardy and, in all likelihood, the Tour de France.”
