Venice first marked what Peter Crithary, director of marketing and production at Sony USA, called a “cultural replacement at Sony” by designating the camera by calling it alphanumeric characters.
Beyond the name, Venice represents a new camera formula and concept for Sony. Placed as a high-end virtual cinema acquisition device, Venice has an entirely new form factor, but the F5 and F55 camera devices remain compatible. LED panel in the look of the assistant, a feature that was long requested from photographers, as well as a smaller OLED display in the operator’s appearance.
Venice is based on a full-size 6K sensor of 36 mm x 24 mm. Sony argues that the shutter speed and reading of the new chip sensor eliminate the effects of the roll-up shutter. F65 is 18 megapixels. In order to protect the investment, the entire sensor block is interchangeable through the user, allowing the new generation of sensors to be changed as soon as it becomes available. This commitment to maintaining cameras for several years is evident in the F5 and F55 levels that will continue to be sold (as well as the F65) that obtain periodic firmware updates and feature improvements.
Sensor photos are larger than previous cameras, allowing for dynamic range, advanced color and signal/noise ratio.
The lens formula is unique. The fundamental camera has a lockable E-mount like the FS7 II. A PL mount attaches to this lockable E mount. Most users at this point will pick up PL glass, but for those who want the portability or flexibility of smaller lenses, Sony’s G Master FF lenses would be an ideal camera companion. The PL mount supports the Cooke / I formula and records lens frame metadata through the frame.
Although shooting in local 6K, it also offers 4K and UHD modes as a 4:3 height/width ratio for anamorphic shots. The local ISO of the new camera is 500.
Internal recording is performed on two SxS cards with the XAVC four80 codec with internal fourK four: 2: 2. XAVC and ProRes HD are also edited internally. Subsequent R7 aggregates now available for new Sony RAW and X-OCN formats. The F5 and F55, where the back of the R7 is fixed in a slot, Venice mounts the R7 securely via four screws between the back and the camera frame.

Venice will ship in February 2018 Final value has been announced, but once pushed, Sony Europe said it could be on the order of € 37,000 for the frame alone.
