“The King of Staten Island”: Judd Apatow’s newest son is animated through the life of his star, “Saturday Night Live”, Pete Davidson, adding the death of his firefighter father on September 11 and his fight against intellectual illness. It’s the story of a stagnant young man, who lives in his house without paintings and distrusts relationships. He knows, but he doesn’t know what to do about it.
It’s not a comedy, “The King of Staten Island” has more in common with 1970s character studios like “Five Easy Pieces” and “Alice No Longer Lives Here” than Apatow hits like “Knocked Up”. It’s not in the same league as those movies, but their center is in the right place.

Also: Elizabeth Debicki, who played the role of Princess Diana in “The Crown,” plays an American tourist who is caught up in an art heist in “The Burnt Orange Heresy,” also on Blu-ray this week.
New – Binge Watch
“Teenage Bounty Hunters”: Netflix’s top 10 rating raises questions like, “Who, exactly, looks like,” Mr. Peabody and Sherman. But they also surface to blame pleasures like this obscene, prankster series about dual telepathic sisters who attend an elite Christian school during the day and chase the guarantors in their spare time.
Between scenes of sex and violence, you watch the girls, played through Maddie Phillips and Anjelica Bette Fellini, as they struggle with problems such as faith, morality and the bewildering habit of adults, dustbags and intelligent Christians. Suddenly, you don’t feel so guilty about looking.

Notable – Reissue
“Tales From the Darkside”: This 1990 horror anthology, founded on a television series created through George Romero, features a murderous mummy, a hitman hired to kill a cat, a gargoyle of love and a lot of carnage. The cast is anything else: New York rock icons Deborah Harry and David Johanssen, Julianne Moore in their first film role, as well as Christian Slater, Steve Buscemi and Rae Dawn Chong.
But it’s this sacred cat that’s going to keep you awake.
