The famous Robots in Disguise are about to return through a new animated film called Transformers One. The film, a major name in the 2024 movie lineup, will explore the origins of beloved characters like Optimus Prime and Megatron. As expected, an A-list cast was assembled for the production, adding Chris Hemsworth, Keegan-Michael Key, Brian Tyree Henry and more. These castings alone are great, I must say that what is really great is seeing the 3 actors together with their respective characters.
It was a special screening of the upcoming film for enthusiasts that the trio of actors gathered along with director Josh Cooley and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. At some point during the day, the five men gathered to take a photo on the grounds of Paramount Pictures studios. But, as mentioned, this specific snapshot was made even cooler by the fact that the stars were surrounded by status characters, the very characters they lent their voices to. You can see the symbol for yourself below:
For an actor, I suppose it is a fundamental flexibility to be able to be next to a recreation of a character that you have helped bring to life. There can be wonderful pride when the role is tied to such an iconic franchise. Imagine being Chris Hemsworth (who earned a standing ovation after the screening) at that moment and not only saying that I voiced Optimus Prime, but also pointing the finger at the character right behind him. Can I just go on to say how great he is. However, it’s so wonderful that Thor’s student and his co-stars can now claim that moment.
Transformers One director tackles comedy in trailer, promises enthusiasts ‘real danger’ in the story
After seeing this photo, I’m even more intrigued to see what the stars bring to their roles. While the Extraction star voices the eventual leader of the Autobots, Brian Tyree Henry plays a young Megatron, who has yet to assume his position as leader of the evil Decepticons. As the trailer for Transformers One shows, Optimus and Megatron (initially known as Orion Pax and D-16) start out as friends before their mythical rivalry is formed. Most sensible of that, B-127 (better known as Bumblebee) is also in the group and is voiced by Keegan-Michael Key. If you ask me, one of those stars has been perfectly molded. And other A-stars with roles in the film Scarlett Johansson, Steve Buscemi, Jon Hamm and Laurence. Fish burn.
Reactions to Transformers One have surfaced since the screening discussed above, and it turns out that the audience likes it. Many seem to agree that the trailers don’t exactly do the film justice. What I’m most excited to see are new things. Versions of the characters that enthusiasts know and love. I’m especially excited to see some other aspect of Megatron and Brian Tyree Henry has more than what he needs to play him.
From that point on, Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Keegan-Michael Key, and their co-stars were connected to this esteemed franchise. In fact, the cast will have even more press work to do and more premieres to attend in the coming weeks. With that, I would say that they will most likely be close to other recreations of their characters very soon. I’ll definitely be eye-open, should that happen!
Transformers One hits theaters on September 20, so there’s still some time before enthusiasts can see the movie. In the meantime, however, enthusiasts can use a Paramount+ or Prime Video subscription to stream the franchise’s latest live-action installment, Transformers Rise of the Beasts.
