The start of a new era in Doctor Who’s 60-year history begins on Disney Hulu presents the final season of one of the most popular comedies of the streaming era. Star Trek arrives in a big way for those who have been waiting with a Netflix subscription, with the Prodigy stream. But that’s not all. Here’s a look at the most important screens and videos streaming this week.
Star Trek has gone on an adventure in the streaming era at Paramount. Unfortunately, one exhibition was not as successful as the others. An animated series aimed at a younger audience, Star Trek: Prodigy had been canceled on Paramount, with the first season even being removed from the platform. However, the series has been given a new lease of life on Netflix.
Season 2 is scheduled for release in 2024. Before that, season 1 will be available on Netflix so that audiences who don’t know about the series can catch up and enthusiasts who have been without the series for months can watch it after all. Again.
Pokemon is an incredibly popular IP that has been around as an animated series for over 25 years. However, Pokemon Janitor is something very different. This Netflix original focuses on Haru, who is given an assignment in Pokemon Resort, a position where pocket monsters pass by to relax and recharge between deathmatches. The series looks pretty adorable, with a taste for stop-motion art and a focus on anything other than action, which could attract a new audience to the popular franchise.
The new Doctor Who 60th anniversary special officially brought us the 15th Doctor, played through Ncuti Gatwa. The 2023 Christmas special, The Church on Ruthrough Road, will be his first solo adventure and will also introduce enthusiasts to his first partner, Ruthrough Sunday, played. Millie Gibson: A new Doctor is a joy to laugh at as we begin to receive more information about what this edition of the character will bring. The expectations are really high.
And if. . . ? Season 2 attempts a different release strategy, releasing new episodes of the series every day, rather than once a week or all at once. For fans, it will be like receiving a Christmas gift every morning. Episodes airing this week comes with a continuation of a season 1 episode titled “What If Captain Carter Battled the Hydra Stomper?” and an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s popular Marvel graphic novel, 1602, titled “What If the Avengers Assembled in 1602?” see the arrival of an absolutely original Marvel character, a Mohawk woman named Kahhori in an episode titled “What If Hahhori Reformed the World?”
Disney patrons won an early holiday deal last week when, seeing the first episodes of Percy Jackson and the Olympians arrive in the middle of the night, they premiered at 6 p. m. PT the night before. We now know that this will be the case for all new episodes, and based on the first two released last week, those with a Disney subscription can’t wait to see Episode 3, in which Percy and his friends will begin their search for the Master. For many people, Steven Spielberg’s The Color Purple was their introduction to Oprah Winfrey, a woman who would become one of the biggest names in entertainment. Decades later Oprah and Spielberg have produced a new film version of The Color Purple, which adapts the popular stage musical version of the story. The movie hits theaters on Christmas Day, and fans will then be able to follow that with Oprah and the Color Purple Journey, a documentary look at the new film’s production, which, in the trailer for the doc, Oprah calls the “greatest desire” of her life.
