Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, an action mystery starring Gerard Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr. , is new to theaters.
Rated R, Den of Thieves 2 – Pantera is the long-awaited sequel to the 2018 hit Den of Thieves, starring Butler, Jackson, Pablo Schreiber and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.
The sequel’s official tagline reads, “In Den of Thieves 2: Panther, Big Nick (Butler) returns to hunt in Europe and becomes closer to Donnie (Jackson), who is worried about the treacherous and unpredictable global diamond thieves. and the notorious Panther mafia, which is planning a major heist on the world’s largest diamond exchange.
Written and directed by filmmaker Christian Gudegast, Den of Thieves 2: Panther opens Thursday before hitting theaters nationally on Friday.
Currently, the only way you can see Den of Thieves 2: Pantera is in theaters, so check your local listings for showtimes. After that, the first stop on the home entertainment front for the film will be on digital streaming via premium video on demand.
While some studios adopt a wait-and-see technique for PVOD releases similar to a movie’s monetary good fortune, others stick to an established model. Den of Thieves 2: Panther The Lionsgate studio tends to stick to a trend with its films, which have a window of three weeks to a month in theaters before being available on PVOD.
For example, Lionsgate’s remake of The Crow and the film adaptation of the video game Borderlands debuted on PVOD 3 weeks after they opened in theaters, while it took the studio just over a month for The Best Christmas Pageant Ever to appear on streaming virtual.
As such, audiences can expect Den of Thieves 2: Panther to arrive in PVOD anytime between January 31 and February 7.
Per an agreement between Lionsgate and STARZ, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera will stream on STARZ’s online app first.
However, the wait for Lionsgate films to appear on STARZ is much longer than the time between the studio’s theatrical debut and PVOD debut. On average, the theatrical window for STARZ SVOD is five to six months.
For example, The Crow takes just under six months to arrive on STARZ (August 23, 2024, opens in theaters/SVOD debuts February 19), while The Best Christmas Pageant Ever will take about five months to launch to air on STARZ (November). March 10, 2024, theatrical release/March 31, SVOD).
Similarly, Lionsgate’s Borderlands took nearly five months to debut on STARZ (Aug. 9, 2024, theatrical opening/Dec. 24, 2024, SVOD debut).
As such, audiences can expect to see Den of Thieves 2: Pantera on STARZ through June 7 and July 4.
