Released in theaters in 2012, Argo tells the story of Tony Mendez (Ben Affleck), a CIA agent who poses as a Hollywood manufacturer in 1979 in Tehran. Your mission? To save six Americans, the hostage crisis in Iran remained there.
The film follows Mendez as he tries to save the Americans under the pretext of detecting filming locations in Tehran for a sci-fi film. Affleck does not star in Argo, but he is also the director of the film. This follows Affleck’s good fortune at the helm of The Town in 2010.
The star includes Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad, Oscar winner Alan Arkin, John Goodman, Tate Donovan (The O.C.) and Titanic’s Victor Garber.
Argo is a triumph for Affleck, but he never intended to star in the film. Initially, Clooney intended to play the leading role of Mendez. The father of two said so in an interview with Page Six in 2012.
“I was doing March Idus and I gave [Argo] to Ben because we were in a position to shoot,” Clooney told the publication. “We feel lucky that he sought to do it, and he made it bigger than anyone can imagine,” he added.

Argo didn’t let down the industry awards. During the 2013 awards season, Argo earned nominations. According to IMDb, the film earned a total of 153 nominations.
In the end, he won 3 Oscars; BestArray writing (adapted script) and editing.
