In April, Will Forte told us (while selling The Willoughbys from Netflix) that he was waiting for Peacock to officially give the green touch to the long-awaited MacGruber TV series, and it’s even though it’s all happening. So it turns out that even if Tenet doesn’t make it to theaters as expected in a few weeks, staunch fan Christopher Nolan has more to excite, and the world can use any smart news right now that he can get.
It should also be remembered that Forte warned the enthusiasts who promised that the MacGruber series, written by himself, was too “dirty” for network television, so thank God for the streaming services, right? Between the rave sex scenes of A Happy World and the crude edition of David Schwimmer, a filthy Forte character feels at home in Peacock. In an advertisement Monday, NBCUniversal’s broadcast service revealed that the cult character of the iconic comic parody strip SNL (which also spawned a 2010 film) is officially one thing. Forte, of course, will wear aviator sunglasses for at least 8 action-packed and comedy-filled episodes. It is executive manufacturer again and the assignment still has the same connection line as before. Excerpt from a press release:
Having rotted in criminal for more than a decade, the American supreme hero and patriot MacGruber (Will Forte) is despite everything being thrown. Your mission: eliminate a mysterious villain from his past: Brigade Commander Enos Queeth. With the overall total in the crosshairs, MacGruber will have to run against the clock to defeat the forces of evil, only to notice that evil … can hide inside.
Lorne Michaels is on board as an executive producer, a name that is also maintained through Forte. Deadline also reports that Kristen Wiig and Ryan Phillippe have still officially joined this series, but this looks promising for both of them. Watch Forte make an official announcement on her character below.
And in the other Peacock news, there are also weekly series of night news presented by Larry Wilmore and Amber Ruffin along the way, so Peacock shows that everyone is involved in those broadcast wars.
