Wolverine’s claws, ‘Scream’ suit and more could fetch $10 million at auction

Forrest Gump’s box of chocolates, the Goonies’ Data coat and the “holy grail” of Scream costumes are among the iconic pieces of movie memorabilia that went up for auction in Los Angeles in August. The Propstore auction is expected to raise $10 million.

We expect more than 1,900 masses to locate new homes at this four-day event. While they may not be the most expensive pieces up for grabs, the trio will actually catch the attention of moviegoers with disposable income.

The Ghostface dress worn in Skeet Ulrich’s Billy Loomis and Matthew Lillard’s Stu Macher Scream from director Wes Craven, the young slasher who introduced a multimillion-dollar franchise, has an indicative value of between $50,000 and $100,000. The coat worn in Data, reproduced by Oscar-winning actor Ke Huy Quan in director Richard Donner’s old 1985 family adventure film, The Goonies, will likely find a new home for $25,000 to $50,000.

Meanwhile, anyone who stops by the house with the box of chocolates that is Tom Hanks’ main character compared to life in Forrest Gump will probably want to have between $20,000 and $40,000 on hand.

Although they are among the most sought-after pieces in the auction, which runs from Thursday, August 15, 2024 to Saturday, August 18, 2024, they are by no means the ones who have the prices.

Four pieces of film history all have the same estimated sale of between $250,000 and $500,000.

First and foremost, enthusiasts of Ridley Scott’s 1979 sci-fi epic Alien will need a full wallet if they want to see the new owners of the USCSS Nostromo’s 11-foot main-firing style. A six-foot motorized screen filming style of Michael Keaton’s Batman’s Batwing. , from director Tim Burton’s 1989 film Batman, will likely replace hands for the same amount.

Let’s say your thing is science fiction or comic book heroes. In that case, Indiana Jones enthusiasts can have a matching on-screen and photo fedora worn by Harrison Ford and stuntman Dean Ferrandini in the 1984 hit Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

If you’re looking for Star Wars memorabilia, an Imperial Scout Trooper Biker Scout helmet from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi is the fourth item expected to sell for between $250,000 and $500,000. If everyone gets their consulting prices, they will make up one-fifth of the $10 million the auction hopes to raise.

Other notable pieces in the sale include a Necronomicon featured in Evil Dead II, which is estimated to be worth between $80,000 and $160,000, Chris Evans’ shield from Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, which will cost between $50,000 and $100,000, and a leather jacket matching suit worn by John Travolta as Anthony “Tony” Manero in Saturday Night Fever, expected to be worth between $40,000 and $80,000.

Included in the auction are items from Gladiator, Pretty Woman and The Blues Brothers.

Elsewhere, it would be illogical for Star Trek enthusiasts to pass up the opportunity to own Spock’s Tricorder adapted for the screen of the original series’ third season. A fan of Leonard Nimoy will be lucky enough to include this jewel in their collection if they have between 75,000 and 150,000 dollars to spare.

While the R-rated Deadpool and Wolverine hit theaters exclusively on Friday and are expected to be one of the biggest movies of the year, Hugh Jackman’s steel claws from 2017’s Logan are part of the auction. The most productive film to date may cost between $20,000 and $40,000, but it will certainly capture the attention of fans.

The coat worn by Data, played by Oscar-winning actor Ke Huy Quan in director Richard Donner’s classic 1985 family adventure film “The Goonies,” will likely cost a new home between $25,000 and $50,000.

Someone with between $1,000 and $2,000 who is making a hole in their pocket and wants to remain a piece of film history is in luck with three things that attract a lot of attention. You’ll want to show the money on Propstore if you want to close the deal on a package that includes the classic Jerry Maguire headline from 1996, folders, books, airline tickets, and business cards. Director Cameron Crowe’s sports comedy earned five Oscar nominations. Another option is the War Rig skull decoration from Furiosa from Mad Max: Fury Road, and there’s also Brad Pitt’s John Smith driver’s license from the 2005 action comedy M. and Ms. Smith.

Pre-registrations for the sale are now open on the Propstore website.

“The sale represents another incredible opportunity for movie fans to own a piece of cinematic history,” COO Brandon Alinger enthused in a statement ahead of the company’s second LA-based live auction of 2024. “Whether you’re a seasoned collector or new to memorabilia collecting, this event promises something extraordinary for everyone.”

The indoor auction will be open to the public at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles starting at 9:30 a. m. m. PDT. Online, mail and telephone bidding can be made anywhere in the world through the Propstore website.
