Yankees: the latest update on DJ LeMahieu, in spite of everything, will give NYY enthusiasts an explanation for why to smile

DJ LeMahieu, or “The Machine” or “The Guy Who Makes the New York Yankees offense work,” the victim of the team’s immortal injury virus when he fell with a sprained thumb opposite the Tampa Bay Rays.

Initial reports after his injury on August 15 recommend that he may not return for 2-3 weeks and, of course, many enthusiasts expected the calendar to succeed at its top limit given the Bombers’ trend so far in 2020.

But the latest DJLM update suggests you may be back in the Yankees’ batting box THIS WEEKEND!

Here’s the newest thing about Bryan Hoch, a Yankees connoisseur:

“During IL’s 10 days with a sprained left thumb, LeMahieu did a batting practice at the box Thursday at Yankee Stadium, as did designated batter Giancarlo Stanton. Boone said LeMahieu would report to the election in Moosic, Pennsylvania and could return to play in the Subway series opposite the Mets.

We’ll talk about the fact that Aaron Judge can land on the back of IL just for a moment, as we’ve known for almost 24 hours. Yankee enthusiasts want an explanation of why get up in the morning after everything that happened with this team over the more than two and a half weeks.

Aaron Boone said the team “really cheered up” through DJ LeMahieu’s progress. LeMahieu (left thumb sprain) is lately facing high-speed pitches, and Boone said he expected to face live releases sometime this weekend. https://t.co/FoP1M3qJvn

The offense has been virtually non-existent since the loss of several base players, but LeMahieu is arguably the highest injured. The former National League batting champion is the team’s engine and beat Array411 in 19 games before being injured. In 164 games with the Bombers, he beat Array336 / Array383 / Array520 with 124 problems scored, 28 home races and 110 RBIs.

He brings both top-tier aggressiveness and patience to the plate, and his presence at the leadoff spot really helps this offense get in a rhythm. Look, we love Luke Voit taking hacks up there, but we need a shred of normalcy to return to our lives after all of this chaos.

After scoring only 12 problems in their last five games, the Yankees can receive a much-needed jolt with LeMahieu’s rapid return. Oh, yes, and they’ll face the Mets, so help.
