YouTube Pledges $15 Million to Creators and Network Affected by Los Angeles Fires

YouTube and Google have pledged $15 million to their creators affected by the Los Angeles fires, as well as to the relief efforts of the Los Angeles community.

“YouTube and @Google are contributing $15 million to organizations through Google. org to provide immediate relief in Los Angeles to our author community,” YouTube said in an article on X. “Recipients include @ENLA_VOAD, @RedCross, @funds4disaster and @INN, with more to come.

“To all of our employees, the YouTuber creator community, and everyone in LA, please stay safe and know we’re here to support,” added Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google.

YouTube has also revealed it will open its production facilities for creators to use if they were impacted by the fires. This will allow creators to continue to produce high-quality content and thus continue to make a living, even if their normal production area was destroyed.

“On the long road ahead, we’ll continue to support recovery and rebuilding efforts alongside our partners across the industry,” the company added in a blog post. “In moments like these, we see the power of communities coming together to support each other – and the strength and resilience of the YouTube community is like no other.”

This pledge for support mirrors that of multiple major studios that have committed millions of dollars to fire relief as well. Warner Bros. Discovery and Disney have both also committed $15 million in donations, while Amazon, Comcast and Netflix have pledged $10 million each. Sony has committed $5 million, and Paramount Global plans to donate $1 million.

Celebrities also jumped in on the action, donating hundreds of thousands of their own budget to fund the aid budget. These donations are especially generous, as many celebrities lost their belongings in chimneys while ravaging wealthy neighborhoods, leaving nothing behind.
